The California Child and Adolescent Mental Health Access Portal (Cal-MAP)
The California Child and Adolescent Mental Health Access Portal (Cal-MAP) is a CalHOPE pediatric mental health care access program designed to increase timely access to mental health care for youth throughout California's communities, especially in the state’s most underserved and rural areas. Cal-MAP’s team of psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers provide no-cost consultation, education, and resource navigation to California Primary Care Providers (PCPs) caring for mental and behavioral health concerns in youth 0-25. Cal-MAP's continuing medical education (CME) includes ECHO learning collaboratives and monthly webinars; extensive website resources for PCPs and patients/families; specialized virtual psychological consultation in substance use, autism, early childhood and eating disorders; and care coordination consultation to both PCPs and families having difficulty accessing needed mental health resources. Cal-MAP is also offering webinars and ECHO learning collaboratives for school-based clinicians. While assisting PCPs in providing mental health treatment, Cal-MAP takes a trauma-informed, wellness-oriented approach that emphasizes prevention and holistic care, and not just medications.
Mission: We promote pediatric mental health and wellness through consultation, education, resource navigation and innovation throughout California's communities.
Vision: We are collaboratively transforming pediatric healthcare, in order to advance the health and emotional well-being for California's youth.
Values: We value equity, inclusivity, diversity, partnership, inter-professionalism, prevention, and stigma-free access to care for all.
